St. Thomas Orthodox Community Center - Ground Breaking Ceremony
The Sunday, 11/22/2015, our Church had a groundbreaking ceremony for our new St. Thomas Community Center building and a surprise party for our Respected Aroopala Achen’s 75th birthday. The programs began with a procession of our children, parents, Achens, and our Diocesan Metropolitan, H.G. Alexios Mar Eusebius. We were also blessed with the presence of the Mayor of the City of Stafford, the honorable Mr. Leonard Scarcella. As Mr. Koshy P. John mentioned in last week's newsletter, the historic foundation stone that was blessed by His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, was used in yesterdays ceremony.
After the blessing of the stone and ground breaking, our Thiurmini offered powerful words of appreciation to the parishioners on their hard work and continued efforts for this great project. His Grace's words were followed by remarks from Mayor Scarcella who spoke highly of the Indian community and how we have transformed the City of Stafford through our faith-based living. The entire program was organized by the ground breaking subcommittee which was led by Mrs. Shiny George. After evening prayer, the night concluded with a wonderful surprise party for Aroopala Achen's 75th birthday which included speeches, songs a dance program and a delicious dinner. The party was organized by Mrs. Preethy Eapen and Mrs. Elsi Abraham. Overall, it was a blessed and historic event for St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Cathedral and it was wonderful to see the support for our new community center and the love for our very own Vicar.
May God continue to bless our parish and our activities!
